Joint Advanced Seminar 1 (JAS 1)

The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) organized the first Joint Advanced Seminar (JAS 1) for the first cohort comprising 25 doctoral fellows.   The event was held in Nairobi from 14th March to 8th April 2011.   JAS 1 focuses on critical thinking and conceptualization of research ideas. The modules are designed to provide good grounding in multi-disciplinary research with emphasis on the basic concepts in Public and Population Health, Epidemiology, Demography, Social Sciences, etc.  A refresher course for the fellows’ supervisors was also held on 2-3 April, 2011.

JAS 2 will be held at the University of Witwatersrand from 21st November 2011 to 19th December 2011.
