CARTA JAS 2 Kicks off at the Wits

CARTA cohort 1 fellows started their second Joint Advanced Seminar (JAS 2)  on
November 21,
2011 at the university of the Witwatersrand.  JAS 2 is a follow-up to JAS 1 which was held in Nairobi in March/April 2011.  JAS 2 focuses on data management and analysis while JAS 1 build fellows’ critical thinking , technical skills and other core research competencies.  Fellows were also introduced to essential concepts and seminal articles.  There are four seminars in the course of CARTA Fellowship and fellows have to attend all.  Each seminar builds on the other and attendance is mandatory for CARTA Fellows.

All the cohort 1 fellows are attending JAS 2 which runs from November 21st to December 16th, 2011.  The training is fully residential and is coordinated by Prof Margaret Thorogood of the University of the Warwick Medical School together with Prof Sharon Fonn, Head, School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand and Deputy President, Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA).
