The University of Warwick Medical School hosted a CARTA Curriculum Meeting for Joint Advanced Seminars (JAS) for PhD in Population and Public Health from June 28 to July 1, 2012.  The curriculum discussions, held at the Scarman Training and Conference Centre, were led by Dr Alex Ezeh (Director, CARTA), Prof Sharon Fonn (Deputy Director, CARTA), Professors Frances Griffiths and Margaret Thorogood - both of the Warwick Medical School.

Particularly, the meeting which was attended by representatives from CARTA Partner institutions, both Northern and African based, finalized JAS 1 curriculum taking into account the first two iterations of JAS 1 and the linkages with JAS 2.  The second iteration of JAS 2 was accomplished by incorporating feedback received from JAS 2 and the changes made in JAS 1. Objectives of JAS 3 were extensively interrogated resulting in a draft curriculum and ways of working towards finalizing the curriculum mapped out.  Work on JAS 4 commenced by identifying the lead person in the development process.  Ways of evaluating JAS sessions were also be revisited together with the process of engaging supervisors and universities for effective PhD teaching and supervision for the benefit of the fellows.
